Weedend Getaway/Hospital Visit

We had planned a trip for early March to go up to Jackson, NH as sort of an early summer getaway.  On the way up there, we stopped in Portsmouth, NH to eat breakfast - I highly recommend the Drunken French Toast!

A view from our car of the White Mountains off in the distance.
We had never been to this specific inn, but we were floored when we walked into our room.  The place is called the Snowflake Inn in Jackson, NH.  All of their rooms are for two people...so don't make plans to take any kids.  However, if you are without child or can get a sitter for a night or two...we suggest you take a visit.  We had a sitting room with a desk, a huge bathroom, gas fireplace, king bed, and a jacuzzi tub in the bedroom!
The ubiquitous covered bridge.
Unfortunately, Tuesday and Wednesday are considered the weekend in Jackson.  Had we known, we would have gone later in the week...because we were met with these signs everywhere we went.  We were able to go out for dinner on Monday night - the day we arrived - but weren't able to do much else.
Late on Monday, Sarah started feeling sick.  We laid around in bed for the entire day on Tuesday and watched movies.  When we woke up on Wednesday, Sarah knew something was wrong so we got in the car and headed straight to the hospital in Boston.  It was a 3 hour drive, but it was worth it.  It turned out that she had salmonella and would need to be in the hospital for four days.  We are both glad she chose to sit in the car for 3 hours instead of going to the local ER in Conway, NH.  Sarah got better within 7 days, but I got salmonella about 3 days later and also had to stay home from work for 4 days.  Lesson learned - wash your hands often and well, and ALWAYS clean your veggies before you eat them:)
